Exploring and Expanding - Summer, New Books and a New Blog!

5/31/2016

Dear Readers,

A great article about scientific publishers, including Nova Science Publishers was brought to my attention last week. The title of the article is called Coverage, Field Specialization and Impact of Scientific Publishers Indexed in the Book Citation Index by Daniel Torres-Salinas, Nicolás Robinson-García, J.M. Campanario and Emilio Delgado López-Cózar. As discussed in the article, the purpose of the study was to analyze Thomson Reuters’ Book Citation Index, focusing on the publishers’ presence, impact and specialization. Here is a link to the article: https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1312/1312.2791.pdf
There are a few parts of this article I found interesting as they pertain to Nova Publishers, an Academic and STM Publisher or Scientific Publisher as they have us named.  One, is that this article does not include citations to chapters (as opposed to books). I think the next study should focus on this important issue.

Another conclusion found by the authors was that “Springer seems to be the most multidisciplinary  publisher as it is present in all fields, followed by Nova Science, which is one of the top 3 in eight of the fifteen disciplines.” As a top Academic Publisher, I was very pleased to read this.

Other news: Tomorrow is June 1st and we are excited about the books that will be announced in the coming weeks. Some of these NOVA titles include:

  • Biological Implications of Human Mobility
  • Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy: From Epigenetic to Social Networks – Imprint: NOVA Biomedical
  • Studies in Contrastive Linguistics and Stylistics
  • Agricultural Research Updates. Volume 13
  • Knowledge Creation and Transfer: New Research
  • Resistance Training: Principles, Adaptations and Health Effects
  • Invasive Species: Ecology, Management Strategies and Conservation
  • Learning Styles and Strategies: Assessment, Performance and Effectiveness
  • Psoriasis: Epidemiology, Diagnosis and Management Strategies – Imprint: NOVA Biomedical
  • Islam: Global Issues, Challenges and Perspectives of the 21st Century
  • Indigenous Peoples: Perspectives, Cultural Roles and Health Care Disparities
  • Ellagic Acid: Food Sources, Potential Role in Human Health and Antioxidant Effects – Imprint: Nova Biomedical
  • Renewable Energy: Sources, Applications and Emerging Technologies
  • Advances in Medicine and Biology. Volume 103 – Imprint: NOVA Biomedical

To remind you or for those who don’t know, here at Nova Science Publishers, we have three main imprints:
  • Nova Biomedical (for Medical books)
  • NOVINKA (for softcover books)
  • NOVA (for all others)

Other news: June 5th is World Environment Day. Please check out NOVA’s books:

We also finally choose the cover for our next catalog and the one that will be brought to the Frankfurt Book Fair and distributed. First, let me show you the options which were presented to us:

I will let you know what we choose next week! It is a little different than all three.

Other news: SLA is coming up (http://www.sla.org/attend/sla-2016-annual-conference/show-overview/) and it is an important meeting for Nova Publishers because all the important librarians are going to be there. It will take place in Philadelphia, not too far from us, from the 12th to the 14th of June. We’ve attended once before and it was super helpful to NOVA.  I will let you know if we attend.

On that note, we want to wish everyone a great week.

Warm regards,
NOVA Team
